Position Summary

Since 2007, Dealer-FX has transformed how automotive retailers manage their service operations and interact with consumers. Through advanced data integrations and mobile technology, Dealer-FX streamlines processes and communication for automotive service departments while delivering convenience, transparency, and trust to consumers. Dealer-FX is a wholly owned subsidiary of Snap-on Incorporated (NYSE: SNA), which acquired Dealer-FX in 2021.

Dealer-FX has been serving automotive OEMs and dealerships for almost a decade. Dealer-FX is transforming how millions of consumers interact with automotive brands and their retailers. Our platform uses advanced data analysis and mobile applications to deliver convenience, transparency, and trust to consumers and increase efficiency, profitability, retention, and brand loyalty to OEMs and dealers.

As a Database Reliability Engineer, you'll bridge traditional DBA responsibilities with modern automation, development support, and database operations. You’ll work closely with developers, DevOps, and SRE to ensure our databases—across MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift, and Redis—are highly performant, scalable, cost-efficient, and CI/CD-friendly.

You will be instrumental in evolving our database environments with modern tooling, infrastructure-as-code principles, and an automation-first mindset while supporting a growing platform built on both legacy and cloud-native technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Automate all database deployment and change management steps—no manual intervention—including schema migrations, grants/permissions, stored procedures, seed data, etc.
  • Integrate database operations into CI/CD pipelines to enforce version control, repeatability, and rollback support (DBaC).
  • Tune and troubleshoot stored procedures, indexes, and queries for performance and reliability.
  • Optimize engine and instance-level configurations to strike a balance between performance and cost (MS SQL, RDS, Aurora, PostgreSQL, Redshift).
  • Understand application-level data flows to assist in debugging, data manipulation, and developer support.
  • Work with developers on database code reviews, performance implications, and standards enforcement.
  • Own legacy Microsoft SQL environments (EC2-hosted), maintaining, patching, and planning upgrades.
  • Lead migrations from EC2 MS SQL to AWS RDS (MS SQL or PostgreSQL), including conversion strategies.
  • Design, configure, and monitor all forms of replication (MS SQL to MS SQL, RDS to PG, etc.) using AWS DMS and other tools.
  • Support both classic and serverless RDS deployments in AWS.
  • Maintain and monitor Redis clusters (Elasticache or Redis Cloud) and contribute to performance tuning and caching strategies.
  • Ensure security, backups, disaster recovery, and auditing are in place across environments.
  • Proactively monitor performance, growth, and cost anomalies with modern observability tools.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in database administration, engineering, or operations roles.
  • Strong expertise with SQL Server 2017/2019 and PostgreSQL in production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS RDS, Aurora (SQL & PG), serverless PostgreSQL, and AWS Redshift.
  • Proven experience with Redis (Elasticache, Redis Cloud) for caching and session management.
  • Experience with AWS DMS and cross-engine replication strategies.
  • Proven experience in tuning queries, stored procedures, indexes, and engines.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
  • Experience implementing Database-as-Code (DBaC) using tools such as Liquibase, Flyway, Alembic, DACPAC, Prisma, and Sequelize.
  • Comfortable working within CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps preferred).
  • Understanding of DevOps principles, security standards, and cloud-native architectures.

 Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases
  • Exposure to containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Development background or experience closely supporting application teams
  • Experience with legacy modernization and large-scale cloud migration projects

 What’s in it for you?

  • Vast opportunities for growth
  • Competitive compensation packages
  • A flexible work schedule for work-life balance
  • Comprehensive Training and Development support
  • Group health and dental benefits
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 3 weeks of paid vacation
  • Cool company events and team building

If you're passionate about performance, automation, and being the go-to expert on all things databases—from EC2-hosted SQL to serverless PostgreSQL and Redshift—we want to hear from you.
